Hiking Volcán Concepción requires a guide and good fitness. Bring 2+ liters of water and a jacket—there's no shade above 1000 meters elevation.

Safety
If arriving after dark from San Carlos, take a taxi from the harbor rather than walking the 2 km to town through unshaded area.
Transport
Ferries to Altagracia run twice weekly from San Carlos (9 hours) and Granada (3 hours) when lake conditions allow. Bus from Moyogalpa costs around US$1.
