Overview
Aldan is a remote gold and mica mining town in Yakutia, located in the Aldan Highlands along the Aldan River. Founded in 1923 as the settlement of Nezametny, it remains one of the largest towns in the Sakha Republic with about 21,000 inhabitants.

Aldan has an airport with flights from Yakutsk and a railway station on the Tynda-Nizhniy Bestyakh line. Local transport includes taxis (RUB 500-800 to suburbs) and buses (RUB 31 in town).
Weather
Subarctic climate with best visiting months June-August when temperatures reach around 20°C. Winter is extremely cold with limited daylight.
