Overview
Yuksom is a serene trekking base camp in West Sikkim, serving as the starting point for the famous Dzongri-Goecha La Trek that leads to the base of Kangchenjunga, the world's third-highest mountain. The village holds immense historical significance as the first capital of Sikkim, where three learned monks from Tibet crowned Phuntsog Namgyal as the kingdom's first Chogyal (religious king) in 1641.
