Overview
Westport is an attractive planned town on Ireland's west coast, with well-preserved 18th-century Georgian terraces lining the canalised Carrowbeg River. Originally Cathair na Mart ("town of the beef cattle"), it was rebuilt in 1780 around Westport House and serves as the main gateway to southwest County Mayo.
