Overview
Weizhou (涠洲岛) is China's biggest and youngest volcanic island, formed by eruptions about 7,000 years ago. The island offers dramatic volcanic geology, coral reefs, wide sandy beaches, a Gothic-style Catholic church built from coral sedimentary rocks, and some of the emptiest beaches in China—all without the crowds of Hainan.
