Overview
Weihai is a coastal city on Shandong's peninsula surrounded by sea on three sides, offering clean beaches, maritime history, and a surprisingly vibrant Korean food scene due to its proximity to South Korea (only 94 nautical miles across the sea). The city was British-ruled from 1898 to 1930 as Weihaiwei, leaving behind naval architecture and museums on Liugong Island that visitors can explore.
