Overview
Wasur National Park is one of Papua's least disturbed natural areas, protecting the largest wetland in South Papua province. The park offers exceptional wildlife experiences with up to 358 bird species, including some 80 species endemic to New Guinea such as birds-of-paradise, cassowary, and kookaburra.

Limited connectivity expected in this remote area. Mobile coverage is sparse in South Papua; arrange communication needs before departing Merauke.

Money
Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the local currency. Lake Rawa Biru entry fee is Rp5,000. Cash should be obtained in Merauke as there are no ATMs at the park.
Safety
The park is remote with minimal infrastructure. Travel with a guide, carry emergency supplies, and inform others of your itinerary. crocodile and wildlife awareness advised near water.
Transport
Merauke is the access point—fly from Jakarta or from Jayapura's Sentani Airport (1.5 hours). Then 2-3 hours by car to park entrance on the Merauke-Jayapura road. No direct public transport to park.
