Overview
Wadi al-Dawasir is a city and governorate in the south of Nejd, Saudi Arabia, described as the gateway to the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter). The city serves as a base for desert expeditions into one of the world's largest sand deserts.

Culture
As a conservative Saudi city, modest dress is expected, particularly for women. Alcohol is prohibited throughout the Kingdom.
Language
Arabic is the official language. English is limited outside major hotels and airports.
Transport
Wadi al-Dawasir has a domestic airport with daily Saudia flights from Riyadh and three weekly flights from Jeddah. Overland bus or car travel connects to other Nejdi cities.
Weather
Desert climate with extreme summer heat (often above 45°C). Best visited October through March for comfortable exploration.
