Overview
Vulcano is one of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago north of Sicily. The island is famous for its therapeutic mud baths at Laghetto di Fanghi, where visitors slather themselves in mineral-rich volcanic mud before rinsing off in warm offshore springs.

Italy uses euros. ATMs available in Porto di Levante. Most restaurants and hotels accept cards, but small establishments may be cash-only.
Mosquitoes
Vulcano has mosquitoes unlike some other Aeolian Islands. Bring repellent and be prepared for bites, especially in summer.
Smell
The island smells of sulfur (rotten eggs) due to volcanic activity. This is normal and part of the authentic volcanic experience.
Transport
Hydrofoils and ferries connect Vulcano to Milazzo (Sicily) and other Aeolian Islands. Liberty Lines and SIREMAR are the main operators. Book in peak season.
