Overview
Vulcan, Alberta, has built an entire tourism identity around a coincidence of names with the fictional planet from Star Trek. Incorporated in 1912 and originally a grain-shipping hub for surrounding farms, the town pivoted when someone noticed the Star Trek connection.

Accommodation
Two motels (Vulcan Country Inn and Wheatland Motel) plus two seasonal campgrounds (May-September). Book ahead during Vul-Con (late July) as rooms fill quickly.
Connectivity
Free public WiFi and computers are available at the Vulcan Municipal Library. Most accommodations and cafes provide WiFi. Canadian carriers provide 4G coverage.
Events
Vul-Con (late July) is the marquee event — a full Star Trek convention with celebrities and cosplay. Spock Days (second weekend in June) and the Vulcan Tinman Triathlon (early June) are smaller community events with Star Trek theming.
Food
Three eat listings exist: Amy's Restaurant (Western Chinese, some vegan options, across from the starship), Mama's Pizza & Pasta, and New Club Cafe. Choices are limited and hours are standard (11AM-9PM).
Transport
No public transit exists in Vulcan. A private vehicle is essential for arriving and getting around. Highway 23 is the main artery; Highway 534 provides secondary access.
