Overview
Viseu (/vi-ˈzew/) is a prosperous regional capital of around 53,000 inhabitants in central Portugal's Beira Alta, positioned between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo mountain ranges. The city serves as a regional centre for agriculture and education with multiple schools, a polytechnic, and two universities (Catholic University and Piaget Institute), with no heavy industry.
