Overview
Villefranche-sur-Mer is a small beach resort and residential town of 5,000 residents on the French Riviera. The deep-water harbour attracts Mediterranean cruise boats whose tenders disgorge thousands of passengers on trips to Eze Village and Monaco.

Coarse sandy beach much better than Nice's stones, but very narrow and crowded in high season.
Food
Saturday food market and Sunday antiques market. Two boulangeries and local shops at Place de la Paix. Morning fish stand on the quay.
Money
Self-catering supplies cost about double UK prices. Budget lunch options at Café dell Arte range €5-10. Family meals at Le Cosmo around €100.
Transport
TER trains from Nice cost €2.10 and run every 20 minutes. Driving is difficult in high season due to narrow streets and expensive parking.
