Overview
Vidin is a small Danube border city with a population of about 34,000 (2022), serving as a major crossing point to Romania via the New Europe Bridge opened in 2013. The city's main draw is Baba Vida, the only fully preserved medieval fortress in Bulgaria, built between the 10th and 14th centuries.
