Victoria is one of the smallest capital cities in the world and the only major port in the Seychelles. Its compact centre allows easy exploration on foot, with the clock tower, courthouse, and post office virtually unchanged since colonial times.

Language
Official languages are Seychellois Creole, English, and French. Most locals speak all three. English is commonly used in business and tourism.
Money
Seychelles uses the Seychelles Rupee (SCR). Credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger restaurants. ATMs are available at banks in Victoria. Prices in Seychelles are generally high compared to regional destinations.
Safety
Victoria is generally safe for tourists. Standard precautions apply against petty theft. One of the largest bridges in Victoria was destroyed in the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake but has been rebuilt.
Transport
Buses connect Victoria to beaches and villages across Mahe island. Taxis are the main form of private transport but are expensive. Renting a car is an option for flexibility but adds cost.
Weather
Tropical maritime climate with consistent temperatures year-round (24-32°C). November to April is warmer and more humid; May to October is cooler and drier. Seychelles lies outside the main cyclone belt.
