Overview
Verbania sits on a promontory at the northern entrance to Borromean Bay on Lake Maggiore, formed from the historic merger of several towns including Pallanza, Suna, and Intra. The city is best known for the Giardini Botanici Villa Taranto, a 16-hectare botanical garden established between 1931 and 1940 by Scotsman Neil McEacharn, showcasing 20,000 plant varieties across 3,000 species.
