Overview
Ven is a small Swedish island in Øresund Sound, roughly 4.5 km by 2.5 km, best known as the site of Tycho Brahe's 16th-century astronomical observatory. With only 372 permanent residents (2020), the island offers quiet cycling paths, agricultural landscapes, medieval churches, and a nature-reserve atmosphere.

Before you go
Connectivity
Swedish mobile networks cover the island well. Danish prepaid users should check roaming policies before traveling.
Health
No medical facilities exist on Ven. Bring any required prescription medications and basic first-aid supplies. For anything beyond minor issues, you must take a ferry off the island.
Money
Ven uses Swedish krona (SEK). There are no ATMs, banks, or currency exchanges on the island. Almost all vendors accept major credit cards including contactless. Danish kroner are sometimes accepted at par value, but this is a poor exchange rate—avoid if possible.
Safety
Bike on posted trails and wear a helmet. Some bike paths are shared with motor vehicles. Ride on the right and give way to faster traffic.
Transport
Ferries from Landskrona run every 90 minutes (30-minute crossing). Summer ferries also from Copenhagen and Helsingør. No passport check for visitors from Denmark.
