Overview
Veitshöchheim is a small Franconian town of 9,500 people famous as the filming location for Fastnacht in Franken, a beloved carnival TV program broadcast across Germany. Its main draw is the elegant Schloss (château), former summer residence of the prince-bishop of Würzburg, surrounded by one of Germany's finest Rococo gardens.

Food
Local specialty Meefischli (fried freshwater fish) with potato salad and apple remoulade is the signature dish. Fischerbärbel Restaurant & Café on Mainlände is the most renowned source. Expect biergarten-style dining May–September.
Transport
Veitshöchheim lies on the Main-Spessart railway line between Würzburg and Aschaffenburg/Hanau. Regional trains connect hourly; the journey from Würzburg takes about 15 minutes. The town is walkable once you arrive.
Weather
The Rococo garden is at its finest May–September with flowers in bloom and fountains operating. Outside this season the garden is less impressive. Outdoor dining venues also close or reduce hours in winter.
