Overview
Valle Gran Rey is the main tourist destination on La Gomera, divided into four distinct areas: La Calera (administrative capital with town hall and cultural centre), Vueltas (old fishing village with hippie feel and harbour beach), La Playa (modern pebbly beach with bars and nightlife), and the Upper Valley (remote terracing with stunning views). The valley offers a perfect antidote to busier destinations—banana plantations, cliff faces that change with light, shearwater birds at night, and moonlit strolls on balmy evenings.
