Overview
Vallbona de les Monges is a hamlet in southern Lleida province where the most important female Cistercian monastery in Catalonia has been continuously inhabited by nuns for over 850 years. The village grew up around the Santa Maria de Vallbona convent after 1573, and today it sits quietly in a valley between Serra del Tallat and Vall del Corb, surrounded by dry stone huts, cereal fields, vineyards, almond groves, and olive orchards.
