Vaikom is a small temple town on the Vembanad Lake backwaters in Kerala's Central Travancore region. It's known as the second major tourist spot in Kerala according to the state's responsible tourism scheme.

Vaikom is best accessed by road. Nearest railway station is Kottayam. Auto-rickshaws are the main local transport within town.
