Overview
Uzgen is one of Central Asia's oldest cities, with over 2000 years of history as a Silk Road trading hub. Its main draw is the striking 11th-century minaret and adjacent mausoleum complex—a rare example of Karakhanid architecture.

Kyrgyz som is the local currency. ATMs may be limited in Uzgen; carry sufficient cash from Osh or Jalal-Abad. Prices for attractions are modest (50 som entry to complex).
Transport
Marshrutkas from Osh cost 80 som (April 2024). Departures are very frequent. Local transport within the city is informal; walking is the best option for the compact center.
