Overview
Uusikaupunki is a compact historic port city founded in 1617, the main town of the Vakka-Suomi region in Finland Proper. Its 1856 Empire-style wooden old town is remarkably preserved, and the city is notable for housing Finland's only car factory (producing Mercedes-Benz A-Class vehicles) and a working shipyard.
