Overview
Tranent is the largest of a string of villages along East Lothian's coast, making it a practical base for exploring the area's industrial heritage and Jacobite history. The main draws are the Prestonpans Battle Museum with its celebrated tapestry, the Prestongrange Museum in the old coal-mining complex, and easy bus access from Edinburgh (30 minutes).
