Overview
Todi is a compact medieval hilltown in Umbria, dramatically perched above the east bank of the Tiber. The town impresses both from a distance — with its silhouette against the valley — and from within, where Piazza del Popolo sits atop ancient Roman cisterns that remained in use until the 1920s.

Before you go
Culture
Todi's medieval identity is its main draw. The town comes alive during the July balloon festival and September arts festival. Italian language skills are helpful for the arts festival.
Money
Italy uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are accepted at hotels and larger restaurants but smaller establishments may be cash-only. ATMs are available in town.
Transport
Todi requires a car for practical access from major hubs; no train station exists in town. The E45 highway passes nearby. Parking is available at the edges of the historic centre.
Weather
Spring (April-May) and early autumn (September-October) offer the best weather for sightseeing. Summers can be hot but are when special events occur.
