Overview
Tissamaharama serves as the main gateway to Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife destination. The town preserves ancient Buddhist heritage dating to the 3rd century BCE when it served as capital of the Sinhalese Kingdom of Ruhuna.
