Overview
Tianmushan is a UNESCO International Man and Biosphere Reserve famous for its magnificent stands of Japanese Cedar trees, which tower over the surrounding forest with gigantic girths. At 1556m, it makes an ideal weekend escape from Hangzhou (80km away) or even a day trip from Shanghai, offering natural attractions and temple visits without the crowds of more famous peaks.

Main activity is the mountain climb; shuttle bus handles most elevation, leaving short walk to summit with massive cedar trees along the path.

Language
English is not spoken at guest houses. Prepare directions in Chinese script and consider having a Chinese-speaking friend make reservations.
Transport
Bus from Hangzhou Yellow Dragon Stadium is the main access; shuttle buses operate on the mountain between car parks.
