Overview
Thurso sits on Scotland's far north coast, a town of 7,390 people with a Norse heritage and a 19th-century grid-plan layout. It's primarily a transit hub for the Scrabster-Orkney ferry, but the real draw is the surfing: the bay gets 3-metre waves, often hollow and surfable on all tides, attracting intermediates and experts who don't want the crowds of more famous spots.
