Overview
Tasiilaq (also called Ammassalikk) is a remote Arctic village on Greenland's east coast, founded by Danish explorers in 1894. The village sits around a harbor surrounded by high mountains, offering dramatic scenery and access to some of the Arctic's most pristine wilderness.

Limited dining: hotel restaurant and sports center canteen. Grocery store (Pilersuisoq) in town center. More options exist; locals are helpful and will point you to them.
Money
Greenland uses Danish Krone (DKK). All goods and services are expensive due to Arctic logistics. Cash access is limited; bring sufficient funds and inform your bank of travel plans.
Safety
Remote Arctic environment requires EPIRB, proper gear, and SAR insurance. Hospital in town handles basic cases; serious emergencies require evacuation. Cell coverage is limited.
Transport
Access is via Kulusuk Airport from Reykjavik, then helicopter or boat to Tasiilaq. No roads connect to other parts of Greenland. Town is walkable but hilly; taxi available.
Weather
Summer (June-August) offers 24-hour daylight, mild temperatures, and best conditions for outdoor activities. Winter brings extreme cold and darkness. Weather changes rapidly.
