Overview
Tarascon is a historic Provençal town on the eastern bank of the Rhône, midway between Arles and Avignon. Founded by the Romans in 48 BC, it preserves a medieval old town with arcaded streets, two historic churches, and the imposing Château de Tarascon fortress.

Culture
The Legend of Tarasque defines local identity. The Fêtes de la Tarasque (late June) and medieval festivals (mid-August) are the major annual events featuring traditional Camargue costumes and horse parades.
Transport
Tarascon has a train station with regional TER services. Buses operated by Envia (tout-envia.com) connect to nearby towns. The town is 20 km from both Arles and Avignon.
Weather
Summer brings warm Provençal weather; winters are mild. Late June and August offer festival atmosphere but larger crowds.
