Overview
Tantramar is a small rural border town in southeastern New Brunswick, formed by the amalgamation of Sackville, Dorchester, and surrounding hamlets. The area is notable for the saltwater Tantramar Marshes around the Bay of Fundy, Mount Allison University in Sackville, and historic sites including Fort Beauséjour National Historic Site in Aulac.

The area has Mi'kmaq First Nation and Acadian heritage. Sackville is home to Mount Allison University, a liberal arts college with the oldest university art gallery in Canada.
History
Fort Beauséjour National Historic Site (built 1751) marks the site of Acadian resistance during le grand dérangement in 1755. Dorchester Jail, built in 1875, is one of Canada's oldest provincial jails.

Nature
The Tantramar Marshes around the Bay of Fundy provide natural habitat. Sackville Waterfowl Park offers boardwalk access to 22 hectares of wetland supporting 150+ bird species.
