The German Schutzwall military post from WWII has unstable original structures—stay on marked trails. Winter temperatures drop well below -20°C; proper gear essential.
Transport
Coaches run daily between Rovaniemi and Inari along E75, stopping at Tankavaara (3 hr from Rovaniemi, 45 min from Ivalo). Self-driving offers the most flexibility for reaching trailheads.
