Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport (DZR) is the main entry point to Leyte and Eastern Visayas by plane. The airport served as a WWII US air base and has one runway. Various carriers operate flights to and from Manila and Cebu. From the airport, visitors can take jeepneys (PHP 10 to downtown), taxis (PHP 50-100), or arrange hotel pickups (PHP 250 to downtown hotels).

Get Around
Jeepneys are the cheapest way to travel around the city, costing around PHP 10 per ride. Tricycles (motorcycle with sidecar) cost approximately PHP 8 per ride and are common for short distances. Taxis are available, with MLHuillier Taxi having the most vehicles. For airport transfers from downtown hotels, the standard rate is PHP 250. The city enforces an anti-jaywalking ordinance, so pedestrians should observe traffic rules at intersections.

Things To Do
Historical attractions include Price Mansion on Justice Romualdez Street, where General Douglas MacArthur headquartered for three months, and the Leyte Provincial Capitol on Senator Enage St, the seat of the Philippine Commonwealth in 1944. The Philippine-Japan Commemorative Peace Park on Magsaysay Boulevard honors soldiers who perished in the area. Calvary Hill features larger-than-life statues depicting Christ’s sacrifice.
