Connectivity
TeleTalk is the sole mobile network in the Sundarbans. Obtain a SIM card before entering. Other networks have no coverage.
Health
Mosquito-borne malaria and dengue are present, highest during monsoon season. Drink only bottled water. Carry purification gear as backup.
Money
Taka (Tk) is the local currency. Tour packages cost Tk 15,000-20,000 for 3-4 days. Karamjal entry fee for foreigners is Tk 750/day versus Tk 50/day for locals.
Safety
Bengal tigers hunt humans but rarely target tourists on guided boat tours. Crocodile risk is minimal when in large vessels. Snakes are shy unless approached.
Transport
All Sundarbans exploration requires boats. Package tours from Khulna or Dhaka include transportation. Independent travel requires hiring boats from Mongla or Dhangmari.
Weather
Best visiting season is October-February (cool, dry winter). Monsoon (June-September) is wet and windy with highest disease risk.
