Overview
Shey-Phoksundo is Nepal's largest national park, covering 3,555 km² of pristine Himalayan wilderness in the Mid-Western Region. The park's crown jewel is Phoksundo Lake, a turquoise alpine lake designated a Ramsar wetland site since 2007.

Connectivity
No cellular coverage in most of the park. Satellite phone or radio recommended for emergency communication.
Food
Very limited dining options—only one confirmed restaurant at Lama Hotel and Lodge. Carry provisions for multi-day treks.
Permit
Park entry permits required. Obtain at Tourist Service Center in Kathmandu or at park entry points.
Safety
Altitude sickness is a serious risk. Ascend gradually, no more than 500m per day. Carry AMS medication and prepare for possible helicopter evacuation.
Transport
Dolpa Airport provides nearest air access. Most visitors enter via treks from Dolpa district villages. Trails are narrow, rocky, and steep.
Weather
Best visited April-November. Southern areas are monsoon-influenced; northern areas are arid. Winters above 2,500m are severely cold with snowfall.
