Overview
Serra da Estrela Natural Park contains mainland Portugal's tallest mountain peak at 1,993m and the country's only ski resort. The park is the largest natural conservation area in Portugal, spanning about 1,000 km² with more than half above 700m altitude.

Fees
No fees or permits are required to visit Serra da Estrela Natural Park.
Language
Portuguese is the local language. Some English may be spoken at hotels and tourist facilities in Covilhã and Guarda.
Transport
A car is essential for visiting the park. Access via A23 to Covilhã or A25 to Guarda and Celorico da Beira. National roads N230-232 and N338-339 cross the park area.
Weather
The park sits above 700m altitude with cold winters supporting skiing at Torre. Summer offers pleasant hiking weather but trails can be muddy.
