Overview
Senftenberg is a small industrial city in eastern Germany's Brandenburg state that serves as the gateway to the Lusatian Lake District (Lausitzer Seenland). The main draw is Lake Senftenberg (Senftenberger See), a former open-pit lignite mine flooded between 1967 and 1972 and transformed into a recreation area with beaches, water sports, and walking trails.
