Overview
Santa Pola is a small fishing and tourist town on the Costa Blanca, about 20 km south of Alicante. It offers blue-flag beaches, a 16th-century fortress castle, salt flats, and easy access to Tabarca, the only inhabited island in the Valencian Community.

Food
Seafood is the specialty. The food market is open M-Sa 08:00-14:00. Restaurants may have irregular hours outside summer.
Language
Spanish is the local language. Valencian is also spoken in the region.
Transport
Buses connect Santa Pola to Alicante (line 09 or 123). The town is walkable; a car is needed for the salt flats and outlying towers.
Weather
Summer is hot and crowded; spring and autumn offer milder weather and fewer tourists.
