Overview

Sant Antoni de Portmany is the second largest town in Ibiza and the island's undisputed party capital. While not visually stunning—locals joke the prettiest building is the Lidl supermarket—it draws young British clubbers for access to world-famous sunset bars like Café del Mar and proximity to legendary nightclubs.

Accommodation

Air conditioning is essential for summer stays. Party noise can disrupt daytime sleep in the town centre areas near West End and Sunset Strip.

Food

Finding authentic local Ibicenco cuisine is challenging—the town is dominated by pizzerias, Chinese, and British-oriented establishments.

Language

English is widely spoken by both locals and tourists. Most British visitors don't bother with Spanish, though basic phrases are appreciated.

Safety

Government indicated closure of streets with excess alcohol problems in 2020. Normal urban precautions apply in nightlife areas.

Transport

Bus station is on Calle Paris near the harbour. Lines 3 and 8 go to Ibiza Town; Line 9 runs seasonal airport service. Taxis and radio taxis available.
