Overview
Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a Victorian seaside resort in North Yorkshire, 12 miles east of Middlesbrough, with a population of 5,900. Originally a tiny fishing village, it transformed in the 1860s when ironstone mining began and was laid out as a planned resort and mineworkers' village on a grid pattern.

Transport
Trains run every 30 minutes between Middlesbrough and Saltburn (25 min journey). Bus X4 also runs every 30 minutes from Middlesbrough. The town is walkable.
Weather
Best visited May-September for beach activities. The Cleveland Way hiking is popular spring through autumn. Winter visits can be windy and wet.
