Overview
Salou is the capital and most popular destination of the Costa Daurada, offering 27,000 permanent residents plus a massive seasonal influx. The town combines sandy beaches along a promenade with PortAventura World theme park, one of Europe's largest, plus significant maritime history where James I of Aragon launched the 1229 conquest of the Balearic Islands.

PortAventura theme park is the major attraction. Beaches are free to access. Watersports, golf, karting, and arcade attractions available.
Money
Spain uses the Euro (EUR). ATMs are plentiful along the promenade. Most restaurants and shops accept cards, though some smaller establishments may be cash-only.
Nightlife
Salou is known for summer nightlife with clubs including Snoepy's, Bus Stop, Tropical Salou, and Pacha in La Pineda. International bars and pubs line the promenade.
Transport
Salou train station connects to Barcelona (2½ hours) and Tarragona. PLANA buses serve local routes and connect to Barcelona. Taxis are cheap and plentiful.
Weather
Hot Mediterranean summers (June-August) with temperatures reaching 30°C. Beach season peaks July-August. Evening fountain shows run Easter through November.
