Overview
The Sallandse Heuvelrug is one of the few places in the flat Netherlands where the horizon breaks from a straight line. At up to 75.5m above sea level, these hills provide a rare sense of elevation in a country famous for its flatness.

Before you go
Fees
The national park and Buitencentrum visitor centre are free. Parking at some steunpunten requires a permit from the visitor centre.
Safety
Wolves have been spotted occasionally. Pack water in summer — the park is notably dry for the Netherlands.
Supplies
No shops inside the park — stock up in Nijverdal, Rijssen, or Holten before entering.
Transport
No buses cross the park; bring your own bike or rent from companies in Hellendoorn, Haarle, or Holten (€15-35/day).
