Money
Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the currency. ATMs available in town; bring sufficient cash as rural attractions may be cash-only. Kopime Mane Inspiration and hotels accept cards but local warungs prefer cash.
Transport
Motorbike rental is the best way to explore the region (Rp100,000/day). Angkots and shared minibuses connect Ruteng to Bajawa and Labuan Bajo on the main road. The airport is 2km from center for flights.
Weather
At 1,100m elevation, Ruteng is cooler than coastal Flores. Evenings can be chilly, making soup dishes and hot drinks popular. Wet season runs November-March.
