Overview
Ruovesi is a small Finnish lakeside town in Pirkanmaa with about 200 lakes covering 18% of its area. It serves as a gateway to Helvetinjärvi National Park and the historic s/s Tarjanne lake steamer route between Tampere and Virrat.

Helvetinjärvi National Park, canoeing on Kiimajoki, Pirkan taival trails, and the heritage steamer are main attractions. Guest harbour offers minigolf and church boat hire.

Finland uses euros. Credit cards accepted widely; cash unnecessary for most purchases. Harbour guest mooring €12.50/night.

Transport
Road 66 connects Ruovesi to Orivesi, Virrat, and beyond. The s/s Tarjanne heritage steamer runs twice weekly June–August from Tampere and Virrat to Ruovesi.
Weather
Best visited May–September for outdoor activities. Lake steamer operates early June–mid-August. Winter access limited with snow on trails.
