Overview

The Rock Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing about 300 mostly uninhabited islands just south of Koror, Palau. They constitute one of Palau's finest diving destinations with famous sites like the Big Drop-off and Blue Corner.

Money

Palau uses US Dollars (USD). Budget approximately 50-100 USD for Rock Island permits plus diving operator fees which vary by operator.

Packing

Bring full sun protection: full-brimmed hat, rash guard or UV-protective clothing, paddling gloves, and water shoes. Pack ample water and snacks.

Safety

Bring all drinking water—you cannot rely on finding fresh water among the islands. Apply reef-safe SPF 30+ sunscreen and cover up between 9am-3pm.

Transport

All access is via diving or tour operators from Koror. Independent visitation is not permitted; you must book through a licensed operator.
