Overview
Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark, with archaeological evidence of an important market place dating back to the 8th century. The first Christian church in Scandinavia was built here in 860, and the current cathedral construction began in 1150.

Ribe has a maritime climate with mild summers and cool, wet winters. The flat surrounding marshes mean wind is common. Summer (June-August) is warmest with temperatures around 15-20°C.
