Overview
Reggio Calabria sits at the very toe of Italy's boot, serving as the main ferry port for the short crossing to Messina in Sicily. The city draws travelers primarily for two reasons: the world-famous Riace Bronzes housed in the National Archaeological Museum, and its dramatic position overlooking the Strait of Messina where the rare Fata Morgana mirage can make the Sicilian coast appear tantalizingly close.
