Overview
Rayen is everything Bam used to be before its devastating earthquake. The city preserves an authentic mudbrick heritage that few places in Iran still offer.

Before you go
Culture
As a traditional Iranian city, modest dress is expected. Interaction with locals tends to be warm and welcoming.
Language
Persian (Farsi) is the local language. Basic English is uncommon outside tourist-facing staff.
Safety
Be careful not to damage the fragile mudbrick structures, especially in the Arg. A police checkpoint exists on the road to Kerman.
Transport
Rayen is a compact walkable city. Buses run to Kerman; shared taxis and hitchhiking to Bam are alternatives.
