Overview
Ravenna packs eight UNESCO World Heritage early Christian monuments into a compact, mostly pedestrian old city. Unlike Rome's crowded basilicas, you can often have mosaics like those in the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia almost to yourself.

Etiquette
Shops close 12:30-16:00 for siesta. Dress modestly when visiting churches (no bare shoulders or knees). Tipping is not expected but rounded up for good service.
Money
Italy uses the euro. Credit cards accepted at hotels and larger restaurants; many small trattorias and cafes are cash-only. ATM availability is good throughout the city centre.
Transport
Mi Muovo Multibus (12-trip bus ticket) serves local routes; regional trains connect Ravenna to Bologna, Rimini, and Ferrara. The city is compact and walkable.
Weather
Hot summers (July-August) with highs of 30°C; winters cool (0-10°C) with occasional fog. Spring and fall are most comfortable for sightseeing.
