Overview
Ramsey is the third-largest town on the Isle of Man with a 2021 population of about 8,300. It's the island's closest point to England—Whitehaven lies 36 miles northeast—which made its port historically significant before Douglas developed.

Safety
During TT fortnight in June, A18 mountain road is one-way southbound from Ramsey and has closures during races. Cyclists prohibited on mountain section.
Transport
Bus 3 runs from Douglas every 30 minutes taking an hour; last bus at 11:15PM with late-night service Friday and Saturday. The Manx Electric Railway runs hourly March-October from Douglas to Ramsey via Laxey, taking 75 minutes.
Weather
Summer months busiest for beach. Point of Ayre is breezy heathland—expect strong currents and shifting shingle at the north tip.
