Overview

Rajnagar is a historic town in the Mithila region of northern Bihar, India, near Madhubani. Once a prominent seat of royalty, it is now known for the sprawling ruins of the Rajnagar Palace Complex built during the early 20th century by Maharaja Rameshwar Singh of the Darbhanga Raj family.

Rajnagar is 7 km from Madhubani city. Auto-rickshaws and cycle-rickshaws are the main local transport. Most sites can be explored on foot.

Best time to visit is October to March. Summers can be extremely hot. Monsoon season (June-September) brings heavy rains.
